Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Trails

Hershberger Design delineated an 8-mile trail network originating from the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve, with connections to nearby Death Canyon. Hikes range in difficulty from easy to moderate. Views of Phelps Lake, Death Canyon, and the Teton Range were captured through careful examination of the site. The trails provide access through a variety of habitats, ecosystems, and natural communities. For example, the Lake Creek Bridge acts as an overlook, encouraging visitors to observe the power and seasonal states of water in the landscape. A metal boardwalk crosses a wetland area where benches, separated by vegetation, allow for resting and contemplation. Throughout the seasons, the wetlands change dramatically from clear spring runoff to a lush carpet of color and texture.
